The 7 chakras or energy points that align our bodies from the root chakra at the base of our spine to the crown chakra at the top of our heads are represented by a prism of color that I call ROY G BIV which for me is the easiest way for me to remember the order of them by. Red - Root Orange - Sacral Yellow - Solar Plexus Green - Heart Blue - Throat Indigo - Third Eye Violet - Crown There are also three other energy points that lie outside our bodies. The one that lies about 6 inches below our feet is our Earth Star chakra which is associated with the grounding color Black and 6 inches above our head is the Soul Star which is represented by the spiritually uplifting color White. We also have another point above the Soul Star which is called the Stellar Gateway Chakra and that is often represented by the color gold. When you're recalling your dreams, and I hope you are in the practice of journaling them, pay special attention to the colors that are being presented to you by your subconscious (or as prefer to call it your Inner Self). If specific colors show up in your dream memories or a certain color predominates your dream this could be an indication of a chakra energy center(s) you should be paying particular attention to during your day. It could represent a blockage in that chakra energy area that needs to be opened up or healed. As an example I'm going to describe my dream from last night, how I interpreted the characters and images in that dream and what energy work practices I adopted throughout my day today in response to the information and especially the colors presented to me by my Inner Self. In this dream there were three main characters - my Self (the actual subjective experiencer) a woman and a man. We were all of college age (early 20s) and we were working together to serve beverages to a large massive group of people. These people were gathered in a great hall with many many rows of picnic tables that each seemed to be a hundred feet or longer. At the beginning of the dream we were talking about taking a class trip and the female character in my dream suggested us going to Albany (my home state's capital city). At the end of the dream I was getting ready to for us to serve beverages. I grabbed a round service tray and opened a fridge and inside it were a bunch of unmarked soda cans. The cans were solid citrusy colors. There were lemon yellow cans, lime green cans, and orange cans. I began filling my tray with these cans and topping them off with a single plastic cup. Before I got a chance to serve them to the people in the great hall I awoke from this dream. The two main dream characters I interpreted as representing my Higher Self (God) and my Lower Self (Shadow) and we were all getting along cooperatively (harmoniously) also since these characters were both male and female they represented my masculine (Yang) energy and my feminine (Yin) energy. Our young ages represented the dates in the month to me. Basically it was 5/18 - 5/22 and that was what our youth indicated to me. Also the fact that we were focused on providing drink and not food and the human body cannot go without water for more than 3 to 4 days so all that was indicative of things I should be focused on over the next 3 to 4 days. The word "Albany" to me was the most elusive to decipher so Google being my friend I looked up Albany and the origin of it's name. The city was named after the Duke of Albany King James II and then I thought to search the family crest to see if there was something there to help to me figure out the dream meaning, Then I had the feeling things were getting too convoluted so I just typed in "Albany" and went to the wikipedia page for New York's capital city and my mind's eye instantly went to the image of the city seal which was a colonial farmer standing in juxtaposition to a native American. Below this image was the city motto. A single word - "Assiduity". Of course I had no idea what that word meant so I looked up the definition and it means "constant or close attention to what one is doing" and bingo! There it was. The massive body of people represents my body and all the cells contained within and because I had lastly dreamed of serving them all these citrus fruit colored beverages I gave myself a good dose of vitamin C this morning by downing an Emergen-C packet. The colors orange, yellow and green also represented my 2nd, 3rd and 4th chakras and with "Albany" and "Assiduity" I knew that I needed to pay close and constant attention to the healing and opening of these particular energy points over the next 3 to 4 days. Next I started research how best to work on opening up my sacral, solar plexus and heart chakras. For the sacral chakra I chose meditative dance. Once I had my morning cup of tea in me I put on some uplifting music with a beat and spent about 30 minutes just moving my body in a low impact freeform dance and I've been playing music throughout the day and letting myself move to it whenever the impulse strikes me. For the Solar Plexus I chose aromatherapy. I put on an aromatherapy necklace with a few drops of Italian lemon essential oil which I periodically smell throughout the day. I also put a few drops of lemon, lime and tangerine essential oils in my electric diffuser. As far as my heart chakra is concerned I decided to just try to focus on expressing feelings of gratitude and appreciation for all things around me as often and as strongly as I can throughout the day. I can only say that these practices help me in my own personal inner work in a very profound way and I just share this with you so that you can see how our dreams can impact our waking life in positive and healing ways if you just take the time to intuit what it is your Inner Self is trying to convey to you. Please feel free to share how colors appearing in your dreams have helped you in your own energy/chakra work.
